Happy New Years, Lovers!

Hey Sweetlings,

You may have noticed things have been a bit (very) quiet over here.  All apologies to you, Dear Readers, as it seemed I ended up having a rather unexpected and unplanned blog holiday for the silly season!   I'll be back with a vengence next year (that sounds so strange), and have a whole lot of plans to share with you, including...drumroll please...giveaways!

In the meantime, I just wanted to pop in to wish you all a very happy New Year's Eve, and a rather magnificent year to come!  Be adorable to each other tonight Lovers, whatever your plans are :)

Sending you my very last smoochies for 2012!

Ps. I'm running on Oz time, so for those of you on the other side of the globe, happy New Years Eve-Eve! ;)

It's Friday I'm In Love!

Hey there Strangers!!

Long time, no love! Sorry about my absence, but I can assure it was well worth it.  The coast was beautiful (as always), relaxing (when is it not?), and too funny (I adore my family).  I managed to get plenty of sand in my toes, and even went to visit the lemurs at the zoo!  I have plenty of pretty pics to share with you, but that will be in another post, as this is Friday, Lovers!  And every Friday deserves a bit of Friday Love.  To kick things off tonight, I really wanted to share a special birthday with you all.  If you know me on Facebook, you saw it on the actual day, and although I had planned a proper post here about it, time was not on my side.  So here it is:

December 5th would have been the 111th birthday of the exceptionally inspiring Walt (Walter) Elias Disney (Dec 5 1901- Dec15 1966).  So much of my childhood was filled with the beautiful movies of his studio, and for a little while there I actually dreamed that Belle from Beauty and the Beast may have been me (well hey, pale skin, dark hair and eyes, and french descent with a huge passion for reading and animals) haha!  Alas, it turns out it wasn't me after all, sigh, but that hasn't stopped the immense warmth and gratitude I have to Walt for bringing such imagination and whimsy to Tiny Me.... and for inspiring me creatively still to this day.  I am comfortable enough to admit that yes, I am a Disneyphile.  Walt said quite a few fantastic things over the years, but one of my favourites remains to be "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."  You are so missed.

Oh my sweet Baby Jane (for those who have asked, yes it is a nod to the must-see "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane"), would you look at this sweet sloth and his fancy threads?!  I'm swooning pretty hard for basically everything in Cat-Rabbit's store, but this guy is my definite favourite.  I already adore sloths, but stick a beanie, scarf and cute duds on him, et voila - it needs to be mine!  Le Rocker says that with the amount I sleep, sloths must be my Spirit Animal.  Oh, and for those local Lovers who have a sloth fan in your family, Cat-Rabbit are based in Oz (yay!) so you should be OK for Christmas shipping too! Win!

Well, as I'm sure you have noticed, through the incessant carols in malls and the plagues of shoppers, it is December (already!!?), so ofcourse there's going to be a bit of Xmas stuff in this post.  And what better thing to have than something sweet to get you over the exhaustion of Christmas shopping?  Nodding head to my fellow 'leave it late' shoppers.  These little Chrissy Tree shaped sugar cubes (36 to a pack) equal just under a teaspoon each of sugar, and the little stars are edible glitter, which means they will float around the top of your drink for a while after the sugar melts in.   So pretty!  Oh, they make tiny skull shaped ones too, if thats more your bag :)  Cute idea for a Secret Santa present, huh?

Be still my wild heart.   I think these may just be the first thing on my Xmas Wishlist!  Such beautiful, vintage inspired shoes, and well, you know how I feel about mint green! Ha!  The only issue I'm having is whether I want need these in this colour, or whether I would prefer the black ones, so I can change out the laces for mint ribbon (or maybe purple?).... little help Lovers?

It wouldn't be a LNL post without a bit of zombie to balance out the girly things, right?  Well, while searching for Chrissy tree ornaments today, I stumbled across this amazing bird feeder!  What has this to do with ornaments, you ask?  According to this description: "Nails serve as bird perches.  Also great as gory Christmas ornaments"!!!!!! Yay!!!!  That flowed well, right?  Pretty shoes, gorey zombie....? Yeah, totally nailed it haahaha!  (See what I did there?)

Well, I'm off to go and decorate our tree - late I know!  My house is also looking a bit 'bah-humbuggy', so it looks like its time to bust out the decorations and fairy lights!  Sparkle, sparkle!  It's a sickness, I know.... I just don't care :)
Hows your Xmas-ing going so far, Dearhearts?  Are you all sorted and sitting back, looking at the pile of pressies under your immaculate tree, or are you planning on braving the maddening crowds (elbows out!) this weekend... along with Yours Truly?

Well, whichever one you are, I wish you the sweetest of moments and abit of Sinatra crooning on the record player!
Smoochies!

Ps. If you like otters, meerkats or deers, you may want to check out my next post coming this week. Hint, hint!  And Maryann of Moruya, if you are reading this, I wrote back to your comment last post!  Thank you Sweetie!

It's Friday, I'm In Love!

Hey Loverbugs!

Awww I'm kinda torn that this week is over.  I'm heading down to the coast next week to soak up the salt air and spend some time with my folks (Yay!), but my poor Le Rocker is working all week, so I won't see him till next Saturday... pout.  Ah well, you can't miss someone till they go away, eh? Don't even get me started on missing Moogie and El too!  I am so very excited about getting down to the coast though, and doing some Mama-Kid stuff.  See - torn hahaa!  I've just gotten home from a brilliant ladydate with my sweet Lozzipants, and am well and truly in the midst of a food coma.  So I best get this Friday Love out before I calapse and need to roll myself to bed.  Yeah, I'm sexy like that :)

Oh my Sweet baby Jane!! I want these on my feet right now!  Being a 90s child, I am ofcourse a long term Docs gal, and am so completely smitten that they have come up with these sparklers!! Pity about the price, eh? Le sigh.... one day I will find on sale - and in my size.... I'm sure of it!

How gorgeous is this druzy 'Constellation' necklace.  Yeah, I was always going to love it when it looks like a constellation, huh?  I have a real thing for roughish cut gems and imperfect settings together too, so win-win!

I recently came across the beautiful work of Shaun Tan, and instantly fell head over heels for this one: "Nobody Understands".  I have always had a great fondness for the antique diving suits and helmets, so this one was a real standout for me, which is saying a lot considering how fantastic his other works are.  This one is oil, acrylic and wax pencil on paper, from his book, The Red Tree.  I love the dreamy, heavy feel of it.

Ummm...  I kind of NEED this jumper!!  That smart little kitty definitely needs to be my lazing at home buddy, along with his live counterpart El, ofcourse.  It just looks so comfy!  By the way, I'm pretty sure that 'jumper' mean something else in the US, right?  Like thongs (they are footwear to Aussies haha!).

Did you say SALE?!!!  Haha how stinkin' hilarious is this little dude?!  Hypnotic.
Well, it's Thanksgiving in the US (Happy Thanksgiving US Readers!), and although I obviously don't celebrate it as I'm Australian, I do however LOVE the Black Friday sales, which should be kicking in right about now!  So if you are keen on some cheeeaapp holiday shopping, you may wanna jump onto your fav US shop sites right about now.  And to get you started, let me suggest you head over to my dear Christine's Flappergirl Creations now as she is offering 25% OFF all orders, finishing Monday 26 Nov.  Pop over to her site for the discount code, and to see her new Winter line.  Also, my rad Lucy of Bloody Mary Metal is offering 10% off all orders until 9pm (UK time).  I'm going to go hit the shops now, before all the good stuff sells out!

I'll try to get a post or two in next week, but between the sun, sand, the ocean, my folks, and ofcourse their crazy PC, the odds aren't in LNL's favour.... But I will take a tonne of pictures to share with you once I get back home.

So until then, wishing you all happy shopping and insanely sweet days ahead, dear Lovers!

Photo A Day - November (Smack my b*tch up/Snap my picture) Week 2

Hey Munchkins,

Back again to share Week 2 of my 'Photo A Day Challenge'.  When my super sweet pal, Kim of What Peggy Said and I decided to give this thing a go, we both figured we'd get a few done and then let it fall to the wayside.  Accordingly, we decided to keep the pressure off and be called Team Fail!  As it turns out, we are both going great guns, so we may soon need to change our name to Team Awesomest of All Time! Hahaa!  I'd also like to say the HUGEST of thank you's to Kim for the totally unexpected and just beyond lovely post she made of Yours Truly yesterday!! I actually teared up (and swore loudly haha!).  Go pop over and tell her she's grand for me!!!  And don't forget to say hello to Wilson, El's giant silver UK twin!  Ok, back to Week 2 - ready Freddy?

Day 8 (Something I do every day) - pull stupid faces. I do not have a poker face at all   Facial acrobatics - I got it down!

Day 9 (Small) - Little Bones

Day 10 (can't or won't live without) - I love you everything Potato  It was almost a pic of my Hubs...but...I've known potato longer haha!

Day 11 (night) - our lounge room light shades. Sparkle, sparkle

Day 12 (Drink) - yummy cider, great name! The 'on tap' marker at the bars is an actual granny square
(you can see the On Tap markers here)

Day 13 (Where I slept) - next to him, every night.

Day 14 (Man Made) - the 23 metre high "Touching Light" by Warren Langley at Old Kingston Powerhouse complex - marking the site of Canberra's oldest building. It's shimmers in different soft colours during the day, then glows bright blue at night.  It bathes the entire surrounding area is this eerily calming blue. Clever hubby took me here as a suprise - I didn't even know it existed!

So thats Week 2 done and dusted! Totally past the halfway mark now, and still kicking!  It's funny, some days I wanna change the task of the day to something more fun (like unicorns).... but then again, it has got me posting more of my random day-to-day stuff (queue lovely potatoes), that I usually wouldn't even think of posting.... hmm still undecided... Does anyone really want to see a picture of the Potato of Love (don't be dirty, you pervs!).

Also following up from the last Photo A Day post, I really seem to have gotten a bee in my bonnet (granny speak) about my WIPs, and so once I have finished this post I am going to go and pack up a humungous bag of them to take down to my folks place next week.  I am determined to come back with fabulous finished projects... or ummmm.... sand in my togs... same same!

Hey Lovers, wanna tell me what you can't or won't live without?  Or maybe just what your favourite drink of the moment is?

Smoochies to you

Hang You From The Heavens

Hello Lovelies!

I was sitting up last night, at a stupid time when I should have been snoozing, and flicking through the channels when I came across Later with Jools.  I have this funny love/hate feeling about LWJ... I always watch it when I see its on, and there is always at least 2 amazing bands on it, but then theres always at least 1 band that bores me batshit.... So anyway, I flicked it on, hopeful yet cautious....

"Tonight we have Sonny Robinson with Eric Clapton, The Dead Weather, ...... " I zoned out there and the happy dancing commenced.  You see Lovers, Clapo is one of my favourite musicians (one of my fav songs since I was a wee one is Layla ) so I was happy about him sitting in with Motown's Sonny.  And um... The Dead Weather!  When I grow up I wanna be Alison Mosshart (she of The Kills & Discount).  Mega girlcrush!  Turns out Yoko Ono was on as well.... errmmm so there's the batshit.

Because I love you, I thought I'd share my girlcrush's performance with you.   Her voice is so perfectly rock'n'roll.  Yes, that is Jack White on drums - unpopular opinion time: the guy is super talented, but just not quite my cup of tea.

And on that note, I'll catch you later :)
Smoochies to you all,
Sway xxx
